Biography
- Born to Reza Khan and Tajolmoluke on October 26, 1919 in Tehran.
- His reign was from 1941 to 1979, although his official coronation was celebrated in 1967 due to the World War II.
- He finished his primary education at age of 12 in Tehran. He then moved to Switzerland and finished his upper secondary school in Institut Le Rosey in Lausanne where he is taught in French.
- In 1936, he returns to Iran and attended the local military academy.
- He married three times throughout his life. (Fawzia of Egypt from 1939 to 1948, Soraya Esfandiary-Bakhtiari from 1951 to 1958, Farah Diba from 1959 to 1980)
- In 1950s, with the help of Mohammad Mossadeq, he able to nationalize Iran’s Oil.
- There were two assassinations attempt made and both of them failed. The first one was in Tehran University on February 4, 1949 and the second one was in Marble Palace in Tehran on April 10, 1965.
- In 1963-4, he announced the ‘White Revolution’, which was the act of modernizing Iran.
- In January 17, 1979 Iran becomes an Islamic Republic led by Ayatollah Khomeini. The shah is forced to leave the country by the people.
- On July 27, 1980 he died due to spleen cancer in Cairo, Egypt.
